If You Eat the Cupcake Eat the Apple too

Do you ever find yourself walking back and forth into your pantry wanting to find every snack possible and devour it?  I hope it happens to most and not just me. I grew up in a household where snacking was a must and specially during our purification days. Chocolates, pastries to every possible snack on sight. I have yet to master my eating habits and well it's much harder now when there is Netflix and social media at our hands.  Also lets not forget that I live with my father and he is the best snacker individual here. He will bring all sorts of snacks from flan, Mexican bread and rueditas fritas. It's quite of a bittersweet situation. However, here are some things I do that help me be a better snacker.

What I do to combat these cravings and what I also do if I can't resist...

  • start the day with lots of foods rich in fiber (stomach feels full and helps with digestion)
  • drink lots of water throughout the day
  • stop buying unhealthy snacks and change it to healthy snacks (fruits preferably)
  • buy pre-cut fruits (let's be real who wants to cut a pineapple in the middle of a show)
  • no sodas, no bread in your pantry (easy and fast calories that add up quick)
  • baby cucumbers are a must
  • watermelon is also a must
  • guac & chips
  • more water
  • raspberries and strawberries are my favorite
  • dried seaweed
  • lightly salted almonds
If you really have gone thru all your pastries, cause well one can not resist. Please eat some fruits after, the fiber in fruits will help with digestion as well as water. What also helps level the bodies sugar is a shot of raw organic apple cider before bed. The worst feeling is when you have eaten it all and you feel the shame. I usually get up and do the dishes, separate my laundry or just anything that will help to not feel like I have done nothing for my body. Also a 10 minute super intense workout will do the trick. We all have those days and it's okay but if you are going to eat that cupcake eat the apple too.

Green Apple, Flax seed & Oats - Day 1

Hello my lovely's, today I wanted to bring you a recipe that I am trying out. I am one to try everything, and well a result of that is that I am all over the place in my diet. Some days I am doing keto others I am juicing and to be honest I just want to be a person that has her eating habits figured out. In the meantime I will be all over the place until I figure it out.

A co-worker of mine recommended me this recipe. She advised me to take it on an empty stomach every morning. Today was my first day taking it. I tweaked it a little by changing the 2% milk to half water half oat milk and added some cinnamon. I will keep you posted through out the week with any feedback. Also let me remind you that just like everything is all about consistency. If we want anything to take affect in our bodies we have to be at it daily or at most 4 days per week.

My recommendation is to take it as soon as you make it since it does thicken. The honey and cinnamon definitely make it easy to consume as it gives it a sweet taste. And you know what they say about apples, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". This shake will fill you up in the morning and cleanse your intestines throughout the day making it easier and smoother to visit the ladies room 😉.

1 cup of water

1/2 cup oat milk

1 green apple with peel de-cored

1/2 cup oats

2 TBS of ground flaxseed

1 scoop of your preferred collagen

1-2 TBS of raw honey

1 tsp of cinnamon

blend it all together and enjoy.

ColourPop Wild Nothing Eye Palette ft. Kathleen Lights Swatches

For a minute I was drawn to this color selection. Now I feel they are colors I already have in my collection. I decided not to purchase but as always Kathleen Lights showing us her honest thoughts and swatches.

Is it just me of are the ColourPop eye palettes are very teen like looking. I think this would be a perfect gift for someone who is just starting to dabble into makeup. They are colors that blend well with each other and there is no going wrong.  Perhaps the brown color is the only color that can come off very strong. Applied with a light hand can really emphasize the other colors specially the shimmers. This is a very perfect spring palette.

The pictures down below are from KL youtube channel. The link is above.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks

Excuse my prickle hands it was freezing when I took these photos and the liquid lipsticks were cold. I have been using the Maybelline Matte Ink lipsticks since they came out.  I originally only bought two shades to try them out because I am a fan of liquid matte lipsticks but I have to feel them on my lips first to test the formula before I purchase more. These are very comfortable on my lips and they don't feel over drying.

In comparison to the Anastasia Beverly Hills or the Colour Pop that feel like chalk on the lips these don't feel anything like that. (Not sure if ABH or CP have changed their formula since I last tried them.)

The applicator that they come with is very useful with a pointed side to get in the those hard to reach places. However, I would recommend a lipliner just so there is somewhat of a transition between the lips and the liquid lipstick. Also, when you apply it try to build it up that way you have control of a precise application. I feel when I apply to much it can look kinda muddy and just feel heavy when it dries.

A few of the swatches look a little streaky but it does not come off that way on the lips. Once the lipstick sets it wont move unless you eat something to oily. That can move it around a bit in the inner part of the lips. The shade range is amazing, I feel like they are all very wearable colors with the exception of the really light shades. I did not buy any light shades because they don't suit my complexion. I probably would not have bought that neon red orange either but I didn't know it would come off that bright.

When my complexion was lighter I wore Ruler for an everyday my lips but better type of shade. After summer I found it to be to light. Now I am just using Mover for my everyday wear. I have replaced all my other lip products with these babies and now I am just excited to get more colors. Of corse always buying colors that are in my comfort zone and that I know I will love and wear.

Lovely's, I forgot to place Mover back when I pulled it out to do my previous post and its not on the pictures its only on the swatches. Its the third one down from my inner arm in the dark tones.  Or you can just see it on my previous post.

Makeup Of The Day

Hello my makeup enthusiasts, today I wanted to bring a #MOTD for you. Lets be honest not many of us have been wearing much makeup now that we have been quarantined. However, this is my take on very minimal makeup just to enhance my face a little even when I am just going to wear a face mask over it all. I apologize since Fiona Stiles has been discontinued. I have been trying to use up items in my collection.

I didn't add a moisturizer nor a primer I went straight into It Cosmetics YSBB CC+ Color Corrector (medium) under my eyes and spread it out into my eyelids to use as an eye primer. I placed some on my chin and forehead to balance out the brightness.

Then I went in with my Hourglass foundation stick (beige) and blend it out all over my face and into the CC+.  I set the foundation and CC+ with the Ambient Lighting Edit - G.U. (finishing powder, soft light)

Added some shade on the hollows of my face; first with the Mac MSFN (med-dark) then went in with the Maybelline Fit Me matte & pore less (360 mocha). Being as soft as possible. Used two shades to make a transition and not have to much of a harsh line. I could have done my nose, but I wear glasses so I didn't really feel the need.

Topping my cheeks with a bit of color. I used the NYX HD Blush (amber/HDB11).  I did not use a highlight today because my skin's radiance eventually peeks through I didn't find it necessary to add more shine.

Moving onto brows, I used Benefit  Ka-Brow! (6). I really feel that this years and some of last years trend was and will be thick bushy brows. Thanks to quarantine because it was getting expensive to keep up, I am not mad. Now I just use a hair removing cream and clean up my brows and it takes 7 minutes. I can do a quick demo next time. I am not one to worry to much on my brows.

My eyes on the other hand can be my focus. I am sorry I used a discontinued product today. I have been trying to shop my own stash because well quarantine has been helping at that. Fiona Stiles was and is one of my favorite brands with great formulas and products. Her eyeshadow quads are very easy and effortless to use. I used the quad in Canyon and its one of favorite quads in my collection. One can definitely make a smokey eye look or just and everyday wearable look with a single quad.

Just to finish up the eyes I used the Wet n Wild eyeliner (880 dark brown) and Mac MME Lash Charged Black mascara. Also bringing the dark color of the quad to my lower lash line for more definition. On my lips I have Mover 160 Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipstick by Maybelline. A very mauve wearable shade. It can come off as both a brown undertone or purple undertone.

Finally, product not shown in picture above but I used the Morphe continuous setting mist to bring it all together. I am not sure if this just happens to me or other people also but there are parts of my face that my foundation wont stick to. It drives me insane.. mostly around my jawline. Anyways I hope this post was of any help or just a good read. XOXO

Repurchased Products | Daily Dose of Hue

Thanks to quarantine I have been forced to stop shopping for cosmetics and be more aware of where I waste my money. As hard as that was I had no choice but to start budgeting myself. Am I 100% obedient? No! but I am 78% better. There are still times I get something here and there but for the most part I try to purchase items I know and like. Here they are for you in no particular order.

I have been using black eyeliner since the 6th grade. I started with eyeliner and have not changed it ever since. One of my favorite eyeliners at the moment is from Wet n Wild. I love it because it stays in place and does not move. However it is very water proof and you need of an oil base makeup remover to really get it out. I love how black it applies to my eyes and it just pops. I always get compliments when I wear it. Its very affordable and easy to handle. H2O proof eyeliner in the color black.

Hourglass Vanish seamless finish foundation stick and Ambient Lighting Edit Mini face palette are a must. Hourglass is on the expensive side for me right now. However, the products really go a long way and the quality is great. I always struggle finding the right shade of foundation and I just keep going back to my Hourglass Stick. And the Palette I just adore, I keep hitting pan on the setting powder more so than the blush, highlight or contour shade. I really want to get me another one but I should really try and hit pan completely before I buy another. I am just afraid that they will not bring it back.

Lets talk lips, I am very simple with my lips and the less time I spend on them the better. I am not one to reapply my lipstick ever. I want to just stick to matte and liquid lipstick and be done. I am so happy that Maybelline came out with a range of many shades in the Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipstick and with an awesome formula that does not feel super over dry on my lips. I always go to them for any time or occasion and they set quick. Also, they don't get all crusty and nasty looking on the lips. Though for better application you should moisturize your lips.

Moving on to my least favorite part of my routine, brows. I am not one to like the thick brows or the much filled in brows. However, I do like to mark the bottom part of my brows to define them. I have not had to repurchase the Benefit Ka-Brow Cream-Gel with brush, since it has lasted me forever, but when the time comes I will. The applicator that it comes with is very easy to use, you just have to clean it up because it can get gunky. I love the formula because it is not to thick and easy to build up if you wanted to. I feel like a small amount goes a long way. Then again I am a very minimal type of gal when it comes to my makeup. I feel the less the better.

Bringing it all together is my favorite part and for that I use the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist. I am very picky on my setting mists for many reasons, mostly ones that don't break me out or are to fragranced. That is why I love the mist by Morphe. It is just the perfect combination for my face and the spray is very soft when I spray it and it just sets my makeup perfectly.

Last but not least, how do I remove my makeup? I have been using the Neutrogena Makeup Removing Towelettes since I was in high school. This will take off everything from my face. I am not sure if they have any oil in them. I find that they take off even the waterproof makeup. My face is very sensitive to oils and I try to stay away from the oil base makeup removers. I feel that these towelettes get the job done and do not break me out. I would have to check the ingredients for any oils but if there is very minimal.

Thank you for making it this far. These are my most used and favorite products and products I definitely continue to repurchase. I hope you all enjoy posts like this and feel free to let me know what type of posts you would like to see next. XOXO

Women Still Want Love | Daily Dose of Hue | Christian Life

There are times that I think about many topics that I want to talk about. I feel that expressing my thoughts is not my forte. However, today I felt like writing this in the hopes that it will help someone.  Over the years the lives of woman have changed drastically and in many ways I am thankful because I am able to vote, work and many other opportunities that other woman did not have in the past but worked hard to get us here.

However, deep down women are very romantic and always in search for love. Weather deep down we refuse to admit, and want to be proud, I think we just want to be loved. Many say love is complicated, but its not at all, its simple, love is love. We humans are the ones that make it complicated. We are picky and want more than we can handle. As a Christian now, I have learned the simplicity of love, unconditional love and the patience of love. There were times I had it all and still felt empty. I was married, single, in a relationship yet I was unhappy.

Colossians 3:14 ^
And more than all, have love; the only way in which you may be completely joined together.

I am not here to tell you that you should be a Christian. I think your time will come for you to decide for yourself. I just don't want anyone to go through this life and be disappointed with love. A lot has changed for women the only thing that has not changed is God's plans for women and not just women, men as well. God has given us the rules to this life and we refuse to accept them and incorporate them. I feel that over the years God's word is being forgotten and just shoved under the rug because we want to live in the new trend of fame, sex, alcohol and butt shaking, with our phones in our hands at every minute documenting our every move. That's not what life is about.. its enjoying the person next to you. Not living a life of shame and guilt that later lead you to alcohol and drugs.

Psalms 37:4 ^
So will your delight be in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires.

We only seek God when we are heartbroken or in a dark moment of our life. Once He has brought peace to our hearts we go back to the same cycle of life and then back to seek God when we fail once more. Many couples don't want to get married and those who get married just get married to have a big party. We need to have in mind God's word and thru Jesus Christ we have so much to look forward to. Marriage is more than just "lets get married". When we bring God into our plans He takes control and guides our every move.

Many couples say, we are going to get married when our careers take off, when we have enough money to throw a big wedding. Why!? Everything we do in the name of Jesus Christ will be a success. Even more than what you have planned. Ladies, don't degrade your soul any longer. Your body is a temple and God wants us to be happy, loved and successful. Don't avoid his words any longer. His promises are real and I am 100% sure that anything you do in His name that is; with a sincere heart He will make your desires come true. Find the goodness in your heart and do things the right way. Stop living the same cycle of life, relationship through relationship. Waiting for a certain something in order to get married. Being married doesn’t affect your success, your career, it actually makes it more successful because there is two.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ^
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their work. And if one has a fall, the other will give him a hand; but unhappy is the man who is by himself, because he has no helper.

Let's not forget that anything we do we put it in God's hand and let Him bless our paths. That anything we do with the goodness of our hearts that He will care for. Continuing to have a relationship with Him will keep your relationship free of stress and doubts. It's never late to seek His help. Always focus on the goal and the goodness of your heart. We create our own suffering, our own choices. God corrects our ways because He doesn't want us to be unhappy.

Ephesians 4:2-4 ^
With all gentle and quiet behavior, taking whatever comes, putting up with one another in love;Taking care to keep the harmony of the Spirit in the yoke of peace.There is one body and one Spirit, even as you have been marked out by God in the one hope of his purpose for you;

I wished I had grown up in a Christian household, that spoke of God's promises. Perhaps I would not have understood then ---the way I do now. Eventually we all surrender to Him or I hope we do because His love is greater than anything. I do understand how hard it can be to be in obedience, to pray, celibacy but I can't explain the happiness and peace that I feel when I walk, when I sleep. Obedience is greater than sacrifices, and it gives you a type of strength that lasts and its like nothing else.

Psalms 95:6 ^
O come, let us give worship, falling down on our knees before the Lord our Maker

Goodbye Social Media | Daily Dose of Hue

This new year I wanted to detox from social media. I had many mixed feelings about deleting my Facebook and deactivating my Instagram. I have been on social media since the AOL, MSN Messenger and MySpace days. I even went on Twitter, that didn't really stick though. I just wasn't a fan like most people. I really just stuck to Facebook, Instagram and sometimes YouTube. However, I started to feel more overwhelmed than actually enjoying it.

Most times I always managed to get a large following on my social accounts with the exception of Facebook since it was mainly family and friends. I was always trying to post the best pictures and anything adventurous that I was doing at the moment or think of doing something adventurous just to post it. I started to get really obsessive about posting or not posting, losing followers, not gaining new followers and with the new algorithms it made it more difficult to keep up. I had to stop, being that I have been on social media for some time now, it was hard.

Other times I felt very fake on social media. Always picking the right picture out 60 shots, adding filters, and just pretending to be having a good time when really it was just another Monday. People would probably see me out in the street and be like wow she looks nothing like her Instagram photos. My hair undone, breakouts on my face, and well my everyday struggle with my weight. It made me realize how much it was taking over my life. Not only that, I was obsessing over other peoples content being better than mine or just comparing myself to others.

Social media made me lose myself. I feel like I don't know who I am, what I like, and what I actually enjoy doing as a hobby. I lost sleep staying up all night just scrolling up and down my timelines. I spent most of my money on cosmetics, handbags and shoes. I tried every diet out there and now I don't know what my normal self is. Some friends will ask are you still vegetarian, vegan, keto or whatever diet I was trying out. I don't have a balance of my life and I want to get it back if I ever once had it.

My goal now is to stay away from social media and try to find a balance in my life. To just be a normal person that goes to sleep at 10:30pm wakes up no later that 8am. Someone that has a night time routine and morning routine that exercises most days and eats her fruits and veggies. Attends church on Saturdays and enjoys a steak and a single glass of wine on Sundays and blogs as a hobby. I want to be a loving and patient individual that doesn't run on coffee and loves her job and co-workers. Someone that has a job that doesn’t even feel like a job.

One thing I have stopped is looking for love. I left that in God's hands and said "prepare me first before I fall in love with someone again". Not that I was ever in love because clearly I did not know how to love. Let me love God and myself first before I love someone else. I feel much more warmth now, in my heart, more peace and more laughter. We put much time and energy in looking for Mr. Right when there are other priorities in our lives. I want to be the best version of me.
